Student life in Cambridge

Why should you spend the best years of your life in Cambridge?

In this article, we will explore the great opportunities that a city as Cambridge offers to its students.

First of all, do not be afraid if you dream to study here. Being a member of this outstanding community of learning is not a utopia, and through determination and hard work, you have all the possibility to spend three (or more) amazing years in this wonderful city.

Many films are set in Cambridge, so you probably know it for its exquisite architecture and the quirky rituals that freshmen have to bear. Is Cambridge students’ life really like that?

For sure, the characteristic gothic glimpses would surround you. In fact, the University of Cambridge is constituted by many Colleges. Every student is assigned to a College which will be their new house offering accommodation, places to eat, meet new people, and also teaching support.

Beyond that, the University of Cambridge would of course be in charge of your academic formation, including courses, seminars and grade examinations.

Cambridge offers you two great opportunities: your teachers and your mates. Sheer academic achievement seems to permeate the very walls: it is an environment in which you study alongside leaders in your field and are given the opportunity to develop skills that will help you pursue your goals, whatever they are.

Moreover, the international atmosphere would be a boost for your personal growth. Many students come from all over the world, and you would probably share opinions and dreams with them in one of the many very British pubs around the city.

The University has more than 500 societies, from drama to sports, from art to politics and taking part in one of them will feel like taking another class.

We asked to Luigi Dante Gaviano, student of Economic History, to describe why the undergraduate life is so amazing:

“It offers a remarkable social, cultural and intellectual experience. The university town is centred around gorgeous libraries, chapels and bridges, while Colleges ensure that all students feel part of a tight-knit community of brilliant peers. The intensity of academic life during the day is matched by the indefatigable pace of the events of the university’s societies in the evening.”
